A global leader in Automated Regulatory Intelligence (ARI) and Regulatory Change Management (RCM) delivers real-time regulatory insights across every country and language. Financial institutions and other regulated businesses rely on the company to streamline compliance processes and track regulatory changes with precision.
In 2024, the company completed a major acquisition of several regulatory intelligence businesses. The move expanded its customer base to approximately 1,000 clients and workforce to 600 employees.
Industry: Regulatory Technology/Financial Services
Headquarters: Global
GoGlobal Support:
- Employer of Record (EOR): Canada, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Singapore
- Agent of Record (AOR)/Independent Contractor Solutions: Australia, Cameroon, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Singapore, Spain, UK, USA
The challenge: Integrating global operations
Following the acquisitions, the company faced a complex operational challenge with orphaned employees.
Beyond hundreds of employees in the US and UK, nearly 50 employees needed to transition across multiple jurisdictions with distinct labor laws, benefits and regulatory frameworks where the company had no legal entities. As part of a separate acquisition, 27 independent contractors were also required to be on-boarded.
The countries in scope for the orphaned workforce included Canada, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Singapore and Mexico.
Independent contractors were located in Australia, Cameroon, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Singapore, Spain, UK and US.
Adding to the complexity:
- Inherited Data Gaps: GoGlobal reviewed and aligned employment contracts and benefits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Employee Transition Uncertainty: Joint calls with HR teams provided guidance, clarity and reassurance throughout onboarding.
- Visa Assistance: GoGlobal coordinated visa support for employees, ensuring smooth transitions and uninterrupted employment.
- Global Contractor Management: One contractor in Africa was flagged due to visa restrictions prohibiting contractor work. All other contractors were correctly classified, with IR35 compliance carefully managed in the UK.
The stakes were high. HR readiness was critical to business continuity. Any delay could have jeopardized the timeline and held up the acquisition. The company needed a partner who could navigate ambiguity, act decisively and manage compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
“We took charge of the unknowns and clarified benefits, contracts and local regulations to make the transition as smooth as possible,” says Sariah Lutkin, Director, Portfolio Management at GoGlobal.
The solution: Hands-on, solution-agnostic support
GoGlobal approached the challenge with a solution-agnostic strategy, providing a mix of EOR, global contractor management and local advisory services tailored to each country’s legal and operational requirements.
Employer of Record (EOR):
- GoGlobal applied a Terminate & Hire framework in most jurisdictions.
- The approach ensured legal compliance while preserving employee benefits and entitlements.
- Employees transitioned smoothly, with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.
Agent of Record (AOR):
- The 27 independent contractors were initially reviewed and onboarded across multiple countries using GoGlobal’s Independent Contractor Solutions.
- Payment and contract structures were adjusted to maintain compliance.
- Since then, additional contractors have been onboarded in the UK, US and Canada, bringing the total to 32 active ICs.
- Plans are underway to onboard further on-retainer contractors in the US to support the growing regulatory tracking team.
- GoGlobal consolidates all contractor invoices into a single monthly submission and manages multi-currency payments through the Altios platform.
Visa support:
- An employee in Poland required higher-touch, end-to-end visa assistance.
- Applications were coordinated quickly to prevent onboarding delays.
Local expertise and guidance:
- GoGlobal’s teams provided on-the-ground guidance for labor laws, tax registration and benefits administration.
- Daily check-ins and weekly updates kept stakeholders aligned and informed.
- The hands-on approach ensured speed, accuracy, and confidence throughout the transition.
Solution-agnostic advisory:
- GoGlobal provided guidance on entity setup, independent contractor management and HR gaps wherever needed.
- Risks and compliance issues were flagged early, with clear, actionable recommendations.
“We don’t just react to gaps. We anticipate them, map the path forward and make it happen fast,” says Sariah Lutkin. “When the rules get messy or unclear, we cut through the noise and give our clients a clear, compliant way to move forward.”
The result: Seamless integration and compliance
GoGlobal’s approach delivered measurable outcomes:
- Rapid Onboarding: Employees and contractors transitioned across 15 countries without business disruption.
- Regulatory Confidence: Complex local labor and visa requirements were managed flawlessly.
- Employee Continuity: Benefits, entitlements and contract conditions were preserved, maintaining trust and engagement.
- Global Expansion Enablement: The project positioned the company to continue growing internationally with confidence.
“An acquisition isn’t just about what you buy. It’s about the people who come with it,” explains Sariah. “Our job is to get teams integrated, confident and productive from day one.”
Strategic impact: Powering growth
The engagement illustrates GoGlobal’s ability to solve complex, global workforce challenges:
- Onboard employees in countries without a legal entity
